Reapproval of Teuku Umar
Teuku Umar himself feels this war is very miserable to the people. People can not work as usual, farmers can no longer work their fields. Teuku Umar changed his tactics by turning himself back to the Netherlands.
In September 1893, Teuku Umar surrendered to Deykerhooff Governor in Kutaraja with 13 of his subordinate Commander, having received assurance of salvation and forgiveness. Teuku Umar was awarded the title of Teuku Johan Heroes Commander of the Greater Nederland. His wife, Cut Nyak Dien was confused, embarrassed, and angry at her husband's decision. Umar likes to dodge when there's a bickering.
Teuku Umar showed his loyalty to the Dutch very convincingly. Every official who comes to his house is always greeted with fun. He always fulfilled every call from the Dutch Governor in Kutaraja, and gave a satisfactory report, so he gained great confidence from the Dutch Governor.
Trust is used well for the sake of the struggle of the people of Aceh next. For example, in the battle of Teuku Umar it was only a mock war and only fighting Uleebalang that blackmail the people (eg Teuku Mat Amin). His troops were deployed not to pursue enemies, but to contact the leaders of the Aceh warriors and convey secret messages
One day in Lampisang, Teuku Umar held a secret meeting attended by the leaders of the Aceh warriors, discussing Teuku Umar's plan to return to Aceh by taking all the Dutch weapons and armaments that he controlled. Cut Nyak Dhien was aware that during this time her husband has been playing in front of the Dutch to gain a profit for the struggle of Aceh. Even the salaries given by the Dutch were secretly sent to the warrior leaders to finance the struggle.
On March 30, 1896, Teuku Umar left the Dutch military service carrying his troops with 800 weapons, 25,000 bullets, 500 kg of ammunition and 18,000 dollars.
News run Teuku Umar stir the Dutch Colonial Government. Governor Deykerhooff was dismissed and succeeded by General Vetter. New troops were immediately imported from Java Island. Vetter proposed an ultimatum to Umar, to hand back all the weapons to the Dutch. Umar did not want to meet the demands. then on April 26, 1896 Teuku Johan Pahlawan was dismissed as Uleebalang Leupung and Commander of the Great War of the Dutch East Indies Governor.
Teuku Umar invites other uleebalangs to fight the Dutch. The entire command of the Aceh war began in 1896 under the leadership of Teuku Umar. He was assisted by his wife Cut Nyak Dhien and Panglima Pang Laot, and received support from Teuku Panglima Polem Muhammad Daud. The first time in the history of the Aceh war, the Aceh army was held by a single command
